Words and Movements is a blog focusing on local, national and international politics. This blog is written from the perspective of grassroots organizers.

Our editor, DonnaMarie Woodson graduated in 1978 from the University of Michigan. She is a writer, volunteer painter, web designer, and a once director of communications for a nonprofit. As a cancer survivor, she continues to be a champion for health care for all, and an advocate of cancer research and care.

Tarik Kiley is a contributing writer. He holds several degrees as a graduate of CPCC and UNC Charlotte. From CPCC, he earned his AAS in Paralegal Technology. From UNC Charlotte, he earned a BA with a double major in Political Science and Africana Studies, and an MA in Geography with an emphasis in Community Planning. He has a background in community organizing and political campaigns and currently works in the non-profit world.
